1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how Webtoza (Pty) Ltd, which operates MailerJson ("we", "us"), collects, uses and protects personal information. We are based in South Africa and we handle personal information in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).
It covers two groups of people: customers who have a MailerJson account, and the people who receive emails that our customers send through MailerJson.
2. Our role
For your account information, we are the responsible party. We decide why and how that information is used.
For the content and recipient details of the emails you send through MailerJson, you are the responsible party and we are your operator. We process that information only on your instructions and to run the service for you. If you are a recipient with a question about an email you received, please contact the business that sent it.
3. Information we collect
When you use MailerJson we collect:
- Account details, such as your name, email address and password (stored in a protected form).
- Workspace and billing information, such as your workspaces, credit purchases and payment history.
- API activity, such as the requests your keys make and when.
- Email data you send through the API, including recipient addresses, subject lines, content, templates and delivery status.
- Technical information, such as your IP address and browser details when you visit our website or dashboard.
We do not store your card details. Payments are handled by Paystack.
4. How we use information
We use personal information to:
- Create and manage your account and workspaces.
- Send, queue and deliver your emails and record their delivery status.
- Show your emails in the virtual sandbox so you can test them.
- Process payments and add credits to your account.
- Keep the service secure, prevent abuse and investigate problems.
- Contact you about your account, changes to the service and important notices.
- Meet our legal obligations.
We do not sell personal information.
5. Sandbox emails
Emails sent with a sandbox key are intercepted and displayed in the virtual sandbox. They are not delivered to the recipient address. Because the sandbox exists for testing, we recommend using test addresses and sample content instead of real personal information.
7. Transfers outside South Africa
Some of our providers may store or process information outside South Africa. When that happens, we take steps to make sure the information has a level of protection that is similar to what POPIA requires.
Our servers are located mainly in Johannesburg and also Cape Town
8. How long we keep information
We keep a record of your production emails, including delivery status, for 3 months, after which it is deleted.
9. How we protect information
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information against loss, misuse and unauthorised access. Requests to our API are authenticated with your API key, so keeping that key secret is an important part of keeping your data safe.
No system is completely secure. If we learn of a security breach that affects your personal information, we will notify you and the Information Regulator as the law requires.
10. Your rights
Under POPIA you have the right to:
- Ask what personal information we hold about you.
- Ask us to correct or delete personal information that is inaccurate, out of date or no longer needed.
- Object to us processing your personal information in certain cases.
- Complain to the Information Regulator if you believe we have not handled your information properly.
To use these rights, contact us using the details at the end of this policy. We may need to confirm your identity before we act on a request.
12. Children
MailerJson is intended for businesses and developers and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we make a significant change we will update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you by email or in the dashboard.
14. Contact us
